Alfred Priess | Architectural Lighting Columns
In connection with COP15 climate conference in December 2009, PHILIPS DK decided to set up new, optimised lighting systems at various locations in Copenhagen. For this purpose, PHILIPS DK and architect Christian Liebmann Christensen contacted Alfred Priess A/S with a view to developing the new, stylistically consistent, architect-designed “GRASS” column.
The intent was to combine a stylistically consistent and very simple street light design with the latest LED technology. The assignment involved incorporating the LEDs as an integral part of the lighting column. The assignment was completed in record time. Just eight weeks after initial contact, the first prototypes of the lighting columns were ready for mounting on Christianshavns Torv square.
The project was well received by the clients, and as a result, the lighting column has been selected by PHILIPS DK for a future design-led lighting column. The development work towards completion of a saleable version is already under way and it is expected to be on sale during the summer of 2010. Please contact PHILIPS DK or Alfred Priess A/S for further information.
